Abstract

The article is devoted to the cognitive-onomasiological description of veterinary clinical terms motivated by color features. As a result of the work based on the analysis of onomasiological models, 5 groups of nominations are identified, each of which is characterized by the peculiarities of the linguistic implementation of the components of onomasiological models: basis, features and predicate. Conclusions are made about the special productivity of metonymic transfer in veterinary nominations, which reflects rational connections between the color feature and the disease, about the tendencies of the nominative process in veterinary terminology in the categorization of a color feature.

Abstract

The formation and development of Russian dialects on the territory of the Orenburg region was complicated not only by separation from maternal dialects and inter-Slavic interaction, but also by contact with Turkic and Finno-Ugric languages. At the same time, new natural conditions determined the close social, economic and linguistic interaction of ethnic groups living nearby, which in a certain way affected the formation of a new dialect picture of the world. The dialect material accumulated in almost two hundred years, starting from the stay of V. I. Dahl in the territory of the Orenburg province, allows to a certain extent to reconstruct the specifics of the dialect picture of the world in its territorial diversity in changes in the registers of preservation or changes in the picture of the world in intralanguage and interlanguage interaction. The most stable in this regard are the dialect systems of the Cossacks in connection with the peculiarities of their mentality and lifestyle. The rest of the immigrants, judging by the lexicographic fixation of the Orenburg dialect vocabulary, found themselves in closer ties with the emerging Orenburg community, which makes it possible to study not only the specifics of contacting Slavic and non- Slavic dialects, but also to determine the specifics of filling language gaps in the new dialect picture of the world and the mechanisms of semantic differentiation.

Abstract

The article presents a pilot study of linguistic and extra-linguistic means used to find a compromise between advertising objectives and legislative restrictions. The material was printed advertisements directly on the packages of medicines and dietary supplements, as well as video clips on television and the Internet. It is shown how the requirements of the law “On Advertising” encourage advertisers to use linguistic and extra-linguistic means of indirect communication, mainly tropes. It is noted that tropeic techniques apply not only to the textual, but also to the visual component of advertising. The obtained results can be used in the formation of marketing strategy of a new drug or dietary supplement.

Abstract

The article contemplates the imagery and semantic aspects of a patchworker as a neologism in contemporary English. As a result of the semasiological and discursive approach to the study of the notion and its associatives, it has been uncovered that a patchworker is one of the main important markers of the business structure in the ХХI century, with such latent characteristics in its semantics that are specified by the imagery of its initial form as variability - a unique business quality, which enlarges the possibilities of career growth, and profit retention, as well as a more motivational attitude to work, ensuring more job satisfaction based on the constant change of activities and their content.

Abstract

In the context of globalization and rapid scientific progress, modern scientific disciplines, including geography, are significantly influenced by English-language borrowings. English is becoming the lingua franca in the scientific community, and this leads to the active penetration of English terms and concepts into national languages. The author notes that in geography, as one of the most diverse and complex sciences, this trend is particularly evident. Geography encompasses a wide range of disciplines, such as physical geography, economic geography, and social geography, each with its own methods, approaches, and terminology for studying spatial phenomena. This diversity allows scientists to explore various aspects of human- environment interactions, making geography an important science for understanding global processes and challenges. This paper examines the impact of English-language borrowings on various areas of geography, provides specific examples, describes the causes of borrowing and predicts the prospects for further development of this phenomenon.

Abstract

The article explores the role of metaphor in shaping the terminology of experimental musical instruments in the English language. The relevance of this study stems from the growing interest in contemporary music and the need to understand the mechanisms underlying the creation and perception of new musical instruments. The aim of this work is to identify and analyze the metaphorical models used to designate experimental musical instruments and to determine their impact on the structure and development of terminology in this field. The study is based on the examination of a corpus of 304 terminological units, identified from various sources including scientific articles, books, music encyclopedias, online forums, and specialized websites. The work was conducted using conceptual-metaphorical, quantitative, and componential methods. The findings reveal that metaphor plays a key role in the development of terminology for experimental musical instruments, enriching it, making it more accessible and contributing to the formation of a holistic understanding of this subject area. The article identifies five fundamental metaphorical conceptual models reflecting experts’ perceptions of experimental instruments: “Instrument as Artifact», «Instrument as Abstract Concept”, “Instrument as Human», «Instrument as Non-Living Object or Plant”, and “Instrument as Real or Mythical Animal». The results demonstrate that metaphors based on the perceived similarity to human-made objects (artifacts) are the most effective way to create new names for instruments (46% of all metaphorical terms). The findings can be used for further research in the fields of terminology, cognitive linguistics, and musicology, as well as for developing more effective methods for teaching and popularizing contemporary music.

Abstract

When organizing training in secondary vocational and higher medical and pharmaceutical education programs, a number of problems were identified due to non-compliance with regulatory requirements for the design of prescription formulations in Latin, as well as the lack of timely updating of educational and methodological materials. The subject of the study was the requirements governing the design of prescription formulations and examples of their practical implementation presented in educational and reference literature. The purpose of the work is to identify errors related to violations of the regulations for the structural and linguistic design of the Latin part of prescriptions, and to present examples of prescription models that meet modern requirements. The study revealed that the reasons for non-compliance with the regulatory requirements for the design of prescriptions in Latin are related to the presence of two structural and semantic models of the prescription line: the traditional model and the modern model. The study identified their main differences and the reasons that led to the transformation of the traditional model. The article identifies the most common errors in the design of recipes found in educational literature, provides examples of the design of prescription recipes in compliance with legal regulations, and suggests a unified approach to teaching recipes in courses that contribute to the formation of professional competencies at all stages of education.

Abstract

The research is devoted to the problem of linguistic classification of document texts, the relevance of which is due to the expansion of the space of modern business communication. The purpose of the work is to identify the genre features of documents that implement the general intention of regulation. Using the method of genre parameterization, two types of regulatory texts have been established: a directive and an explanation. The specifics of their speech embodiment is shown by the example of educational documents (regulations and methodological recommendations).: The prescriptive regulatory texts use linguistic means that explicate the hierarchical relationships of communication subjects and the modality of duty; explanatory regulatory texts use linguistic means that express the mentoring relationships of communication subjects, a wide range of modal meanings (opportunities, necessities, duties, advice, prohibition), as well as linguistic means that lead to the de-formalization of the document.
