Abstract

In the article, through the prism of various types of formal-content asymmetry of a linguistic sign (polysemy, synonymy), the author analyzes the change in the meaning of such French terms as quarantaine, isolement and confinement, which became relevant during the COVID-19 pandemic that has affected the whole world, under the influence of external and internal laws language development in a synchronic aspect. As a result of study, it was found that, due to the law of economy of lexical means, the language updated the terms quarantaine, isolement and confinement already in its arsenal, which, under influence of the law of evolutionary change, acquired a new meaning in the modern era, confirming the existence of a close relationship between social and linguistic changes. The law of asymmetry of the allowed native speakers to synchronously use these lexemes, which have multidimensionality, which are characterized by polysemy and synonymy in their desire to convey complex events of reality through the means of language as accurately and diversely as possible, which indicates the relationship between language and human thinking.

Abstract

In this article, the category “opposition” in the terminological field “surgical instruments” of the German language is examined by cognitive approach. Antonyms are analyzed in accordance with the semantic and structural classification developed by L.A. Novikov. The purpose of this work is to analyze and describe the terms of the studied terminological field, in the semantics of which there are indications of the category “opposition”. The materials for the study were compound terms (774 terms) and terminological word-combinations (524 terms) in the German language. Abstract

The term "heteroglossia" comes from the Russian term "Разноречиe," right from the beginning of "heteroglossia," which values the difference of dialogue. This article has applied heterophonic theory to analyze the meaning of Vietnamese fragments in the survey fragment corpus, statistics from 24 short stories collected in Truyện ngắn hay 2019 (multiple authors). The categories “narrowing the dialogue” and “expanding the dialogue” are considered, which makes it possible to believe that the heterophonic approach contributed to the study in identifying isolated groups of sentence modalities. In addition, the article also points out the "unfoundedness" of heterophonic theory in its ability to explain the modality of the fragment.

Abstract

The authors of the article investigate the process of fixing kinship terms in geographical names of the Astrakhan, Volgograd, Rostov regions and the Krasnodar Krai. Toponyms formed from kinship terms are considered as a special category of words reflecting historical, linguistic and social load. In the course of the study, the authors analyzed more than 6 thousand toponyms, 498 of them are geographical names of the Astrakhan region, 1567 of the Volgograd region, 2374 of the Rostov Region and 1897 of the Krasnodar Krai. The sampling was carried out according to three classes of toponyms (oikonyms, astyonyms and hydronyms), selected by a continuous sampling method from regional toponymic dictionaries, dictionaries of geographical names of Russia and on the official websites of designated subjects of the Russian Federation.

The general direction of the research is to study the main directions of extrapolation of kinship terms, in connection with which the purpose of this work is to determine the presence of kinship terms among regional toponyms as a reflection of the "family" and "spatial" codes inherent in the linguistic picture of the world of the native Russian people. The novelty of the work lies in the proof of the typological nature of kinship terms, presented by the example of regional toponyms. The study was conducted using descriptive and comparative methods.
