Abstract

The article is devoted to the role of term elements SAMO- and AUTO- in the veterinary and medical pictures of the world. The nuances of meaning imported by these elements into the semantics of professional nominations are investigated. There are six groups of medical and veterinary terms, each of which implements one of the pictures. Conclusions are drawn about the connection of these pictures with representations about the roles of the subject and object, the degree of independence of the patient, the functioning of the organism as a whole, the modification of the dictionary meaning of term elements in the designation of professional concepts.

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the problem of humanitarian and medical discourse crossing and the description of some results of this intersection. The discourse of psychology is considered as humanitarian. From the standpoint of contextual, definition, semantic and conceptual types of analysis, two examples from English-speaking scientific psychological literature are analyzed, in which fragments of knowledge of medical discourse are revealed. The presented analysis confirms the fact of these discourses intersection and demonstrates the cognitive ability of knowledge synthesis to generate new knowledge or change the idea of knowledge of the existing one.

Abstract

The article considers examples of mixing lexical units in scientific texts that have a similar external form, but different in content. The criteria of differentiation of paronyms in scientific communication are analyzed, the use of names of correlative scientific concepts is differentiated (terminatingterminologization; terminologicalterminological, etc.). Special attention is paid to the issue of the use of general literary words in scientific communication – by the example of the analysis of the semantics and functioning of the lexemes "facets" and "boundaries".

Abstract

The image of the elderly people in the article is considered as a result of the professional discourses mediatization, in which the value content of the key concepts is transformed. It demonstrates that under the influence of the widely discussed social and medical problems, transferred into the public media space, elderly people are evaluated exclusively as a sick group who requires protection and do not represent any other social interest.

Abstract

The development of any science, including medicine, is associated with the appearance of new words and terms in the language, which makes it difficult to read and understand specialized literature in foreign languages. One of the effective ways to develop reading and speaking skills in a foreign language is independent work of students. This article reveals the expediency of the continuity of professional texts, suggests ways to master new material and consolidate what has been passed.

Abstract

The article deals with the issues of teaching medical terminology, the problems of perception of medical terms. On the example of the experiment, we first studied the influence of the ways of perceiving special vocabulary, depending on the type of personality. Our experiment involved first-year students of the Astrakhan State Medical University, studying in an intermediary language. As a result of the analysis, we found that the medical terms studied by first-year students often function in their minds in a distorted form, since they are based on associations, feelings and require explanation not only in an intermediary language, but also a more accurate interpretation. Depending on the types of personality, there are also different ways of perception, but together they create a harmonious and holistic picture of the world. A variety of teaching aids and a set of various types of exercises help develop such important cognitive processes as memory and imagination, and, consequently, develop all channels of perception.

Abstract

This article is devoted to the multifaceted description of the practical significance of familiarization with sententias in the context of the Latin language. As a result of linguoculturological analysis, we proved the benefits of including sententi as in the "Latin language" course in a medical university. In addition to the linguistic side itself, students also get acquainted with the culture and history of the language and thus not only broaden their horizons, but also develop professional competences.

Abstract

Dynamic development of science, engineering, medicine and humanitarian technologies leads to constant enriching of language with scientific terms. In this regard, there is an important task to master with professionally-oriented and general vocabulary during learning foreign language at university. Unfortunately, national practice of teaching lexical vocabulary in most cases fails to succeed. One can find the causes of problems at all stages of organization of foreign vocabulary work. In our opinion, the main cause of bad general and professionally-oriented vocabulary acquisition is in incorrect structure of exercises for using it in speech. We assume that solving the problem is in the field of communicative approach in foreign language teaching. Studies devoted to development of system of lexical exercises from the point of view of communicative approach are almost absent in modern native pedagogy.  The result of our work is an elaboration of practical recommendations foe exercise system compounding devoted to fixing and using lexical units in speech in the context of communicative approach in foreign language teaching.
