Abstract

The article examines Internet communication and its importance in modern society. The features of the blog as a genre are defined, the concepts of a blogger and a linguistic personality are defined. The purpose of the article is to describe the strategy of emotional impact in the speech of an English–speaking blogger and its constituent tactics. As a result of the research, definitions of communicative strategy and tactics and their correlation with each other are given. The article describes the strategy of emotional impact in a blog. The tactics of compliment and praise in posts and comments to them are described. It has been established that the compliment tactic expresses approval of someone's action, therefore it is directed at a third party. It is determined that the tactics of praise emphasize someone's merit or success. It has been revealed that both tactics can be expressed in a blog in both verbal and non-verbal ways. Examples of emotionally colored lexical units used in these complementary tactics are given. It is suggested that the strategy of emotional impact can be implemented with the help of other communicative tactics.

Abstract

This article is devoted to the study of the features of autochthonous inclusions in the speech of political figures of the Republic of Sierra Leone. Abstract

This article aims at examination of task formulations in English-language textbooks as a stable type of educational text and offers a linguistic description of them at the Elementary and Intermediate levels according to CEFR. Using the English File 4th edition (Oxford) series of textbooks, a specialized corpus of task formulations was built. Next, it underwent manual linguistic markup to identify morphosyntactic, lexical semantic and formal features. Each formulation was segmented into two functional zones: a "basic" one, which specifies a directive action, and a "special" one, which parameterizes task completion through references to the source, criteria, and response format. A comparative analysis revealed a relationship between the gradation of the difficulty level of the language and the task formulation: at the Elementary level, short linear formulations with imperatives and minimal parameterization predominate; At Intermediate, syntactic and lexical variability increases, modality is activated, instructions become multi-step and rely on "analytical" operators (compare, analyze, suggest). Thus, the study yielded an operationalized model of task formulations as a type of directive microtext and an inventory of features suitable for linguistic and pedagogical purposes. The results of the study can be used to automate the linguistic tagging of texts, automated validation of compliance with CEFR levels, and the design of effective task formulations with controlled difficulty.

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the epithetation of the concept "sound " in the M. Tsvetaeva’s texts. The poet's work is permeated with sound, this is one of the basic concepts subject to the author's reflection. The concept under consideration occupies one of the central places in the M. Tsvetaeva’s creativity: the poet listens to the world in order to more accurately convey the meaning of being, hearing is the basis of poetry. The relevance of the research is due to the need to study epithetation from new, cognitive positions. The purpose of the study is to describe the blending nature of the epithetation of the concept of "sound" in the M. Tsvetaeva’s texts and to identify the main directions of metaphorization of this concept by means of attributive vocabulary. The researcher has made an attempt to show that epithetation is one of the main mechanisms for verbalizing meaning in the poet's texts. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that for the first time an attempt was made to analyze epithetation from the standpoint of the theory of conceptual integration using the material of M. Tsvetaeva's creativity. As a result of the research, based on the cognitive-semantic method of analysis the linguistic material, it was possible to identify the specifics of verbalization of sound attributes in the poet's idiostyle as the fifth element, the semantic center of being. The research shows that M. Tsvetaeva’s texts provide rich material for observing the cognitive mechanisms of epithetation. In the final part noted that, theoretically and practically, this research will contribute to the development of the cognitive theory of epithetation and cognitive research of M. Abstract

The article examines the frequent surname of the Kalmyks, Mandzhiev, which is derived from the name Mandzh, meaning ‘student (in a Kalmyk monastery)’. It has been established that the surname Mandzhiev has a Tibetan origin, as the adoption of Lamaism led to the incorporation of a significant amount of Buddhist terminology into the Kalmyk language, which has Tibetan, Sanskrit, and Pali origins. The article explores the semantics and functioning of the surname in modern communication, as well as its representation in the Russian language. It is shown that due to the absence of the phoneme /ʤ/ in the Russian language, the name Mandzh is spelled differently, which explains the existence of different spellings of the surname. In modern Kalmykia, the name Mandzh is rarely chosen as a given name for boys due to its subjective perception as "unmodern" and "unfashionable." The article concludes that the surname and name are unique, as the name is not found among the Buryats or Mongols

Abstract

This article is devoted to the study of interference as a key factor contributing to the emergence of language changes in the French language of the Republic of Congo. The phenomenon of interference is examined in the context of bilingualism and multilingualism, which are characteristic of the Francophone world, and the mechanisms of interaction between the French language and local languages (primarily Bantu languages) are analyzed. Relying on the works of both Russian and foreign linguists, the author provides an overview of existing theoretical approaches to the concept of interference, highlighting its linguistic, sociolinguistic, psycholinguistic, and cultural-linguistic aspects. Special attention is paid to the practical manifestations of interference processes in the phonetic, lexico-semantic, and grammatical systems of Congolese French. Examples include changes in pronunciation, semantic shifts in borrowed words, grammatical deviations, and errors typical of the speech of Congolese Francophones. The study’s conclusions emphasize the role of interference as a central mechanism in the formation of local varieties of the French language under conditions of language contact.

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of the translation of a quasi-dialogue, which is essential for the plot of the short story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle “The Musgrave Ritual” into the Russian language. We have analyzed nine translations, made throughout the XXth and early XXIst centuries. We have shown, that despite the brevity of question-answer utterances, their translation varies, excepting cases, when the translation was borrowed, or when any transformation would have led to an inadequacy of translation, the cases of which have also been noted. Beside literal translation, various grammar substitutions, as well as additions or omissions had been resorted to. Translations mostly differ in word order and the choice of this or that variable equivalent

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of sound (phonetic) interference in the Russian speech of bilingual Tajiks. The author examines the features of interference at the level of phonemes, articulation, intonation, rhythm and stress, due to the differences between the phonetic and phonological systems of the Tajik and Russian languages. The paper presents a comparative analysis of vocalism and consonantism of both languages, reveals systemic inconsistencies, such as the absence of qualitative reduction in the Tajik language, the presence of stable and unstable vowels, the absence of the sound [ы] and a number of consonant phonemes in the Tajik system, as well as specific features of stress. Based on a sociolinguistic experiment among Tajik students, typical pronunciation errors associated with interference were identified: hyper-clear articulation, incorrect implementation of unstressed vowels, substitutions and distortions of consonant sounds, difficulties with softening and pronouncing consonant clusters.
