Abstract
The article considers examples of mixing lexical units in scientific texts that have a similar external form, but different in content. The criteria of differentiation of paronyms in scientific communication are analyzed, the use of names of correlative scientific concepts is differentiated (terminating – terminologization; terminological – terminological, etc.). Special attention is paid to the issue of the use of general literary words in scientific communication – by the example of the analysis of the semantics and functioning of the lexemes "facets" and "boundaries".
