Abstract

The article is devoted to the cognitive-onomasiological description of veterinary clinical terms motivated by color features. As a result of the work based on the analysis of onomasiological models, 5 groups of nominations are identified, each of which is characterized by the peculiarities of the linguistic implementation of the components of onomasiological models: basis, features and predicate. Conclusions are made about the special productivity of metonymic transfer in veterinary nominations, which reflects rational connections between the color feature and the disease, about the tendencies of the nominative process in veterinary terminology in the categorization of a color feature.
