Abstract

The article examines the fundamental basis of the metaphorical similarity between the target and source areas, based on action. The aim of the study is to identify the motivation and pragmatic attitudes behind the creation of figurative structures using action identity. This is achieved by identifying a range of semantic and syntactic connections, as well as common features between the components of allegorical expressions and the action potential of metaphorized spatial objects. The study was carried out on the material of literary magazines (“Belaya skala”, “Sibirskie ogni”, “Otchiy kray”, etc.). During the research, the method of conceptual metaphor and elements of component analysis were used. Conclusions are drawn regarding the close relationship between space and movement found in language, and the results of the interaction between language and thought that lead to the metaphorization of spatial objects through action are disc ussed.
