Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of the functioning of the socionym elite in the Russian-language discourse and in the linguistic consciousness of speakers of modern Russian. Based on the analysis of the semantics of the word and its use in different historical periods, the dependence of this term on the ideological concept underlying the socio- economic structure of society, as well as on the current media narrative is established. On the basis of the sociolinguistic questionnaire the main ideas about the composition of the modern elite and personal qualities that should be inherent in its representatives are revealed.
